Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

CES Student Travel and Research Grants and Interdisciplinary Scholarships

The CES awards several small grants every year in support of students’ research activities, conference participation and other academically-oriented travel needs. Travel plans are not necessary to apply for these grants. Funding requests for late spring term travel/research needs may also be considered if expenses will occur after the application deadline

The portal for the Autumn round of grants is now closed. Spring grants will be due March 15, 2026. Updates will be sent via Ethnic Studies listservs. Click here to add your name to our mailing list.

Outstanding Undergraduate and Graduate Paper Awards (yearly)

  • Latina/o Studies recognizes excellent scholarship in the field. Faculty members teaching Latina/o Studies courses are welcome to nominate their undergraduate and graduate students' best papers for this award. We accept nominations during the spring semester. Submit your nomination. Deadline: TBD for 2025

Latinx Studies Award for Outstanding Service (yearly)

  • Latinx Studies recognizes the role of faculty members and graduate students in making Latinx Studies a thriving scholarly community. Each year, a faculty member or graduate student will be recognized for their service to the program.
